Dubai has become a leader in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and smart technologies into various sectors, including transportation, healthcare, security, and urban management. The city’s investment in AI and its goal to become a global leader in AI by 2031 are evident in its Dubai AI Strategy and ambitious initiatives to apply AI to improve both public and private sector services.
One example is the city’s development of autonomous vehicles, which are being tested across various modes of transportation, including self-driving taxis and buses. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is actively investing in autonomous technology, aiming for 25% of all trips in Dubai to be self-driven by 2030.
In healthcare, Dubai is using AI for diagnostic tools, robotic surgeries, and patient monitoring systems, improving the efficiency of medical services and the quality of care. AI-driven smart city solutions are also in place to optimize traffic flow, waste management, and energy usage.
Dubai has established numerous research centers and collaborations with international tech companies to promote AI innovation. The Dubai Future Foundation and Dubai Future Accelerators are prime examples of initiatives designed to support AI and technology startups.
